Tyoga CareNet Becomes a Licensed PPO
As of December, 2005 Tyoga CareNet (TCN) has been
approved as a licensed Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) in
the state of Pennsylvania. As a licensed PPO we are expanding our
service area by becoming a partner in the statewide network known
as Pennsylvania’s Preferred Health Networks (PPHN).
PPHN is a Partnership of nine geographically based
networks throughout the state. Network Partners cover the state
excluding only Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and a small part of the
state to our East. Like TCN, each of the nine partner networks were
originally formed by healthcare providers. This partnership will
increase TCN’s provider base to include more than 11,500 physicians
and 94 hospitals statewide. As a larger group, each partner gains
market area, economies of scale, and stronger influence with vendors
and payors. TCN still remains locally owned and operated.
In addition, we will also align our network with another
partner, Preferred Health Care (PHC), allowing us access to additional
capabilities and expertise. PHC is located in Lancaster, PA and
has particular expertise with fully-insured health plans. One of
the core goals of the local TCN operation has been to increase the
number of health plan options available in this area – providing
choice and competition. PHC will bring to our market well established
relationships with fully-insured health plans such as Assurant (Fortis),
Central Reserve Life, Principal, John Alden and American Medical
Security. Combined with PPHN’s expanded providers and competitive
reimbursement rates, these relationships will make our market more
attractive to new fully-insured health plans and self-funded employers.
To find out more about these relationships,
or if you have any questions at all, please contact our offices
at 570-723-0560.
Changes to Provider Status
Hershey Medical Center
& Mt. Nittany Medical Center
Effective July 1, 2006, the Hershey
Medical Center and Mt. Nittany Medical Center will be in-network
providers under the PPHN Network for Ward Manufacturing and for
Laurel Health System. The Laurel Health System Health Plan requires
a referral for Tioga County residents. If you have any questions
regarding this change or need help searching for providers, please
call Tyoga CareNet at (570) 723-0560.
Bariatric/Gastric Bypass
Surgery
If you are considering pursuing bariatric/gastric
bypass surgery you should verify that the provider is currently
still in-network for your plan. Do not rely on peers and friends
who have had the surgery in the past because there have been some
changes in the status of some providers. If you would like to verify
provider status or need to find an in-network provider, call Tyoga
CareNet at 570.723.0560 or go to www.tyogacarenet.com, choose “Provider
Directory”, and search for in-network providers.
